Ahon: Stories and imaginaries of resilience and progress is an international interdisciplinary research project funded by the British Academy. It is a collaboration between Filipino scholars based at the University of Manchester in the UK, Lingnan University in Hong Kong SAR China, University of Melbourne in Australia and the University of the Philippines Tacloban.

Between 2024 and 2026, our research team has been learning from disaster-affected communities in Tacloban, Leyte and Guiuan, Eastern Samar in the Philippines about their perspectives on resilience and their aspirations in the context of ‘low carbon development'. Our aim is to understand their lived realities and use insights from these to influence public and policy action in the Philippines and globally - so that strategies for climate resilient development are informed by the experiences and knowledges of communities who have survived and need to thrive amidst climate and development challenges.
